… ???Don???t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The LORD doesn???t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.??? – 1 Sam. 16:7 (NIV)
Overview
We all have a purpose in this life! We all have something to accomplish no matter our “small” physical attributes or perceived “small” role we are given in a project or task.
The realization or true fulfilment of our purpose is often times clouded by several factors
- Feelings of Inadequacy
- Constantly being overlooked
- Frequent Disappointments
can all lead to Low self-esteem.
This can lead to one feeling like a victom of their circumstances, however, we have numerous examples of the overlooked playing a vital role in the future of nation or influence of a people.
Small but significant
David Brothers saw him as a “small” shepherd and not a slayer of giants – 1 Sam. 17
David used a pebble to knock out his Giant – 1 Sam. 17
One man used the object of an animal’s jawbone to slew thousands of his oppressors – Judges 15
???the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts – James 3:5
(The ant, rock badger, locust and lizard) are used to highlight the strength in wisdom over size – Proverbs 30:24-28.
Let us note, things will happen, people may look down on us but it’s our choice if we’ll play the victim or survivor.
Conclusion
A popular author once said ‘It’s not the size of the dog in fight, it’s the size of the fight in the dog’.
It’s your attitude not your physicality that will determine the impact you have on others and how you will survive in life.
The great philosopher Jesus of Nazareth said if we have Faith like a small grain of mustard seed we will move mountains – Luke 17:6
